Play for Real has changed the way we provide services!

What has changed?

As of July 1, 2024, Play for Real has transitioned from clinic to home and community centered services. Our main focus will be on delivering services in your child’s natural settings (we can still arrange clinic access if it is needed).

Why have we made this change?

In the 11 years since opening Play for Real, we have been developing and improving the services we provide to children and their families. While we have always included you, as the parent, and other family members, our initial focus was mainly on working directly with your child.

As we worked to improve the services we provide, it became clear that working directly with the child for one session a week was not enough to meet the needs of our children and their families.

As a result, we transitioned to focussing more on coaching you, as the main caregiver, so that there would be more effective carryover beyond the weekly session.

It has become clear to us that the natural progression of this process is to provide personalized coaching for you in your child’s daily settings. As always, our priority will be to focus on what is most important to you

We are excited to make this change because we believe it will deepen your understanding of your child’s needs and how best to support them.

What to expect

Your therapy package will be tailored to the individual needs of you and your child. Every package will look different and may include some of the following:

  • In home sessions/evaluation – may take place in other community settings
  • Parent meetings – in person or via Zoom, allowing discussion without your child present.
  • Video review – sessions or your videos
  • Information and resources
